Overview
South Shore Conservatory seeks an innovative leader with a passion for the arts to spearhead a cohesive institutional advancement strategy. Reporting directly to the President, the Senior Director, Institutional Advancement is a key member of the organization’s senior leadership, overseeing a team responsible for annual and major gift fundraising, planned giving, corporate sponsorships, special events, and marketing and communications strategy. The Senior Director serves as a frontline fundraiser, working closely with the President to build a culture of philanthropy that garners substantial donor support. This newly envisioned role is an exciting opportunity to help shape the direction of South Shore Conservatory, increasing the organization’s visibility and nurturing extraordinary relationships with its key constituencies.

Responsibilities–Essential Functions and Skills
  • Partner with the President, Board of Trustees, and other senior leaders to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of individual donors, corporate sponsors, government and foundation grants that generate approximately $1.8 million in contributed revenue annually.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive plan that aligns with the organization’s annual and long-range strategic revenue goals and objectives.
  • Partner with the President, Board of Trustees, and other senior leaders to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of individual and institutional donors.
  • Expand awareness of the organization’s impact and priorities across a diverse community through the development of a comprehensive marketing, public relations, and communications strategy.
  • Develop and implement creative and compelling strategies to effectively engage key constituencies, including communications, meetings, and special events.
  • Manage, coach, and mentor direct reports, promoting a culture of high performance, integrity, and continuous improvement that values learning, collaboration, and a commitment to quality. Work across the organization to identify synergies to maximize efforts and resources, ensuring consistency in values, practices, processes and reporting.
  • Partner with the President and Finance Department on Institutional Advancement budget development, management and oversight.
  • Serve as an ambassador by engaging with local, state and national agencies and service organizations.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required, with a strong knowledge of fundraising and communications best practices. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7  years of relevant experience, with a strong track record of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts.
  • Project Management: Able to manage multiple priorities through effective project planning, efficiency, and time management. Excellent attention to detail and accurate work product, with an ability to manage workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills, with a high level of integrity and emotional intelligence, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Proven success working collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • People Management Skills: Outstanding people management skills, with an ability to set clear vision and direction for a team and manage towards outcomes. A team player not afraid to roll up their sleeves!
  • Adaptability: An adaptable, versatile professional with a strong knowledge of fundraising and marketing best practices, with an ability to analyze trends and data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Technology and Database Proficiency: Advanced computer skills with demonstrated experience using software applications such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook/Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud and Zoom. Prior experience and proficiency with CRM/database management, with a willingness to learn new technology.
Important Information
  • This role is located in Hingham, MA (Hingham Campus) and Duxbury, MA (Duxbury Campus) with off-site travel required for meetings, events, and donor development activities. 
  • The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $95,000.
  • This job operates in a school-based office environment, with requirements consisting of the ability to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bending, and standing as necessary.
  • A flexible work schedule or additional work hours may be necessary to meet the requirements of this job position, which could encompass evening and weekend hours.
