Overview
The Facilities Coordinator supports the daily operations of SSC’s facilities. Reporting directly to the Director of Facilities, this position ensures that buildings and grounds are safe, clean, functional, and ready for programs and events. The Facilities Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for day-to-day maintenance needs, vendor coordination, and event/program support. This role is hands-on, requiring a balance of routine maintenance, project assistance, and collaboration with other SSC team members. The Facilities Coordinator plays an important role in ensuring operational excellence.


Responsibilities – Essential Functions and Skills
  • Responsible for all custodial needs at the Hingham campus.
  • Perform daily inspections of the facility and campus to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning of building systems.
  • Assist with hands-on maintenance tasks, including minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC support, painting, landscaping and additional tasks as needed.
  • Assist with vendor oversight as needed.
  • Coordinate with and support the Campus Manager, seasonal Facilities Associates, and other Operations team members.
  • Ensure timely setup and breakdown of rooms, studios, classrooms, and performance spaces in coordination with faculty, staff, and events teams.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of cleaning/maintenance supplies.
  • Support the implementation of preventative maintenance schedules for building systems and equipment.
  • Assist with security checks, including monitoring fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lights, locks, and access control systems.
  • Participate in SSC’s Emergency Preparedness planning and execution as it relates to facilities, including fire safety and lockdown protocols.
  • Assist with transporting equipment and supplies between campuses as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to faculty, staff, students, and guests regarding facilities needs.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Facilities to ensure facilities standards are consistently met and to identify opportunities for improvement.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • High school diploma required, additional technical training, experience, or education in facilities management and janitorial services highly preferred.
  • 2–4 years of facilities, maintenance, or related experience required.
  • Hands-on experience with maintenance tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC support, landscaping, and custodial work.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively as part of a team each day.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn software tools for scheduling, communication, and work order tracking.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support SSC’s events calendar.
  • Reliable transportation is required.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and instruments (up to 75 pounds).
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, squat, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Comfort working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate basic maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery safely.

Additional Information
  • This position is based primarily at the Hingham campus.
  • The salary for this role is $55,000 per year and is eligible for overtime for any hours in excess of 40 per week.
  • This is a full-time role with flexible hours requiring evening and weekend availability as needed
  • The Facilities Coordinator plays an essential role in maintaining SSC’s busy events calendar, and flexibility in scheduling is expected.
  • This position may be considered essential personnel in emergencies.
