About Family Service Corps:

Family Service Corps has been placing AmeriCorps members within human service partner agencies in Butler and Lawrence Counties for the last 28 years. Our aligned measures are Healthy Futures, Economic Opportunity, and service to Veterans. AmeriCorps members increase the capacity of our partner agencies that provide life sustaining services such as food security, housing, behavioral health and medical referrals.  While our members are serving thousands of residents in need every year, they are receiving invaluable education and developing unique skills. This is extremely important as many of our members have been previously unemployed and use service as a way to learn marketable skills while exploring possible career opportunities. Many of our members, especially our veterans, have used service to re-enter the workforce or identify a path of education to pursue.

Family Service Corps Vision Statement:

Family Service Corps will be recognized as a sustainable, innovative AmeriCorps program that meets critical human service needs, improves the quality of life for Veterans, and provides AmeriCorps members with pathwasy to self sufficiency and workforce development.

Background Check:

The AmeriCorps application process requires a criminal history check to ensure that community members with whom we work are protected, particularly children, individuals with disabilities, and individuals over 60 years old. We will investigate for past sexual offenses and violent crimes, or crimes that would have a direct bearing on your service. This background check will entail our search of the National Sex Offenders Registry and an FBI criminal history check, which will require your being fingerprinted at Pre-Service Orientation. You will not be permitted to serve or work with children, individuals with disabilities, or individuals over 60 until you are cleared. The review process is not lengthy, and normally is completed within 2 weeks.

Existence of a criminal conviction or juvenile adjudication may or may not, depending on the circumstances, disqualify you from consideration. However, any intentional misrepresentation or omission will disqualify you.
